Terms of Service
Introduction
These Terms of Service govern your access to Speakapp's website, mobile applications, community spaces, wellbeing tools, contact forms, and related services. They are written for Speakapp's UK-facing launch and were last updated on 3 July 2026.
Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using Speakapp, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use Speakapp on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
Eligibility and Age Restrictions
Speakapp is intended for adults aged 18 and over. You must not create an account or use the service if you are under 18. We may request age information or take steps to verify age where appropriate, and we may suspend or remove accounts that appear to belong to underage users or that were created using false information.
What Speakapp Currently Offers
At launch, Speakapp focuses on adult wellbeing, peer community features, onboarding, notifications, support communications, optional donations, and digital wellness tools. Therapist marketplace, therapist booking, therapist scheduling, and therapist payout flows are deferred from this launch and may be introduced later under updated product terms.
Accounts, Security, and Accuracy
You are responsible for keeping your login details, device access, and account information secure and up to date. You must not impersonate another person, share accounts in a misleading way, or use Speakapp for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes. You remain responsible for activity that takes place through your account unless you promptly notify us of unauthorised access.
Community Rules and User Content
You retain ownership of the content you submit, post, message, or upload, but you give Speakapp a limited licence to host, store, display, review, copy, and moderate that content so we can operate and improve the service. You must not post illegal content, harassment, threats, hate speech, sexually exploitative material, self-harm encouragement, scams, non-consensual intimate material, or content that infringes another person's rights.
Safety, Moderation, and Reporting
To protect users and to meet our legal obligations, including applicable UK online safety law, we may monitor reports, review public or shared content, remove or restrict content, limit account features, suspend accounts, preserve records, and report matters to law enforcement, regulators, or emergency responders where reasonably necessary. Users should report harmful, illegal, or suspicious behaviour through available in-app tools or our contact channels.
AI and Wellness Features
Speakapp may offer AI-assisted support, mindfulness, journaling, or wellbeing features. These tools are informational and supportive only, may be imperfect, and must not be relied on as medical, psychiatric, clinical, legal, or emergency advice. We may use automated systems and human review to detect crisis-related or abusive content and to trigger safety responses.
Payments, Donations, and Future Paid Features
Where Speakapp offers donations or other paid features, payments are processed by third-party payment providers and you must provide accurate billing information. Donations are generally non-refundable unless required by law or due to a payment error. If we launch subscriptions, therapist services, or other paid tools later, we may publish additional pricing, refund, and feature-specific terms before those services go live.
Intellectual Property
Speakapp and its licensors own the platform, software, branding, designs, and other service content, excluding content owned by users. Except as allowed by law, you must not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, distribute, or create derivative works from the service without our prior written permission.
Suspension, Restrictions, and Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to Speakapp if we believe you have breached these Terms, created legal or safety risk, harmed other users, attempted to bypass controls, or used the service unlawfully. We may also remove inactive or unsupported services, provided that any legal rights you have as a consumer remain unaffected.
Important Disclaimers
Speakapp is not an emergency service, hospital, crisis line, or substitute for professional medical or mental health treatment. If you believe that you or another person is at immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services immediately, including 999 in the UK. Future therapist features, if launched, will not change the fact that Speakapp itself does not provide emergency intervention.
Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, Speakapp is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability arising out of the service will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to us in the 12 months before the claim or GBP 100, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update Speakapp, change features, or amend these Terms from time to time for legal, security, operational, or product reasons. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users. Your continued use of the service after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing Law and Contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except that consumers living elsewhere in the UK keep any mandatory protections available under the laws of their home jurisdiction. If you have questions, safety concerns, or legal requests, contact Speakapp through the Contact Us page or any support channel we make available.
